Five on Friday : Newborns.

Friday, March 5th, 2010

This weeks Five on Friday has to do with Newborns. I think there is nothing more beautiful or simple then the love you see between a newborn baby and their parents.  Who would not want to photograph all that sweetness (and get a baby fix at the same time).

1. Please,Please check out this post by fellow photographer Lisa Russo. She has said something I have felt for a while and said it well.  I think that as the popularity of some newborn poses continues to grow, we all need to be aware that many of those amazing images shown in media outlets are composites or done with photographers working as a TEAM .

2. I found this link for Ruffle Butts on photographer Yvonne Nieman of St. Louis’s blog the other day.  These are amazing!  They will make for fun shots as your little one grows and starts to crawl away or run as they get bigger.

3. Has anyone found a Tonka Truck lately? I love these classic toys but have not seen any at Target, recently.  They make for a fun ’size’ comparison as a baby boy grows and I wanted to add to John’s outdoor collection for the summer.

4. Don’t forget to take images during that first year. I recommend you focus less on the ‘age’ and more on the milestones and love to see my newborns come back when they can sit (at about 6-8 months) and again at a year when they can walk!

5. I am booking up for the spring so if you are interested in a newborn session, please call as soon as you can to secure a spot on my list.

I just love to photograph newborns.  There is nothing more special then this time when they are fresh and new and full of promise.  They are all so unique and the best part of my job is that I can capture that for their parents.

This is Mr. R.

I drove out to meet him and his parents for the his first ’session’ and went through some fun little towns along the way, such as Now Then (yes there is a town here called Now Then) on my way to St. Frances.

He was a stinker and just didn’t want to have both eyes doing the same thing — He was a move and a shaker when we too his Mom’s maternity photos, and he is still a mover and a shaker!  He has the most amazing eyes and a knack for keeping just one eye open as if to make sure he does not miss a thing!

Today we tried again, and I can say we have many images with both eyes doing the same thing!  Way to go Mr. R.

Hope you enjoy your peak!

I can not believe it is nearly Valentines day. I still have to get the kids valentines made and ordered — hope I can get them done today.

I think that I would have been more on top of things, but I spent a few hours going through all the wonderful images of my childhood.  My wonderful Mother spent hours and hours scanning all the old 35mm slides she had of our childhood and put them on an external hard drive. My kids just love looking at them, though it is hard for them to grasp that I was ever that small!  I found this gem of me, at about five days old.  I put it next to one I took of Kate. WOW!  Go figure some newborn ‘poses’ are timeless and more importantly you can tell she really is my mini me!

Seven Days Old – Newborn photographer Minneapolis

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

I just love when you get invited to capture a new family during their first few days. You may remember this couple from there Maternity — if not you can see the images here. They had their baby girl on Christmas Eve.  She was such a peanut and a pure joy to work with.  I meet them on their home on New Years Day to document her arrival and this beautiful addition to their family.  This session produced so many favorites and this little one was such a trooper.  I had a great time with your and your family Miss H! I hope you ask me back to Otsego to document the rest of your milestones this year.newborn photographer otsego

Baby Love : Minneapolis Newborn Photographer

I just love newborns.  They are always so much fun.  I don’t care if they sleep like tanks or are more fussy.  They remind me that life is beautiful and full of so much promise.  There is nothing more wonderful then a photograph of a little one so fresh and new.  The one thing that amazes me is how unique each one is.  I love that each newborn is different and that although many of my poses and ideas are the same from session to session each child helps me to make their newborn portraits unique.

This little gal came to me from Cottage Grove, her Momma and Grandma drove through morning traffic to make it out to me.  I am so honored that they chose me to photograph Miss S for her firt professional portraits.

I am working on your gallery it should be up just after the holidays!

Baby Boy! Newborn photographer Minneapolis

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

I had another newborn baby boy last week.

It seems like the baby boys are out numbering the little girls this spring. I have photographed three and have a session with a fourth and maybe a fifth newborn baby boys in the next couple of weeks.  If you know if any newborn little girls that want to be photographed, I could use one or two to balance out the boys I am doing right now!  I have some amazing little pink hats sitting in storage!

Mr. T was the sweetest guy.  He was a trooper too!  He gave us nothing but amazing little expressions as he slept.  However, when he was done, well he was done!  LOL.

W family your gallery is live and the links are on their way to you! I hope you enjoy your images!

One of the best parts of this job, is that you often get to see the families you work with year after year.  In doing this, you watch them grow and change, and sometimes you are lucky enough to be there when they add to their families!  I have been doing image of the C family for nearly two years now, and just last week they expanded from a wonderful family of four to a family of five!

Today I had the chance to stop over and meet their latest addition, Mr. T!  He is just so adorable!  I could not wait to get home and start to upload the images from his session.  I thought I would share a few, just quickly with you!

Casting Call — Maple Grove Minnestoa Newborn Photographer

Saturday, December 20th, 2008
Every once in a while I get an idea, something that I want to try.  However, for one reason or another I need help. Because I am a photographer, that means I usually require models that are the right age or the right setting.  When this happens a casting call is born to help me find the models I need to help me carry out my visions.

Here is what I am looking for:

  • Who: Mamas and their babies who are due in the new year … edd from now until -April.
  • What:  The opportunity for me to try out some new creative ideas.  For you it’s a great opportunity  to ‘test the waters’ if you are wondering about custom photography and would like to try a session with Candid Moments Photography.
  • When & Where: a mutually agreed upon home or location when you & the baby get home from the hospital. Baby will need to be between 4 and 10 days old at the time of the shoot.

I do not know the exact number of models I will need, but do know that this opportunity will be limited to just a few sessions over the next couple of months.  It is very important, if you are interested, to contact me ASAP via e-mail: info@candidmoments.com to talk about the session and get you on the books. If you are reading this and know of someone who is pregnant, please feel free to pass the information along to them.  If you do be sure to have them mention your name, so you can receive a $30 print credit at your next session.  Session can take place in the Minneapolis/St. Paul Metro area.

What do you get, besides the chance to experience what custom photography is like?  A FREE newborn session ($125), an online gallery available to you & your family for additional viewing, and an a set of 24 flat birth announcements. Additional prints, cards & gifts are available for purchase.
